Her work appears in The Atlantic, The Washington Post, and many other national and regional publications. An article she wrote on adoption for The Washington Post has been used in several classrooms and is included in a medical school textbook in Australia. In addition to being an accomplished journalist, she enjoys knitting, baking, and recording music with her husband. A song she composed is included on the soundtrack of the documentary, "Gone: The Aeryn Gillern story," which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival.
